FINALLY!

Yay, I’ve finally crossed the 1000 lanyard mark!  The official count now stands at 1035!  It’s taken a long time and I’m still nowhere near the Guinness World Record but it feels so good to break my next major milestone.

Big thanks to the following that helped me over the past couple of weeks...

AspinLine, ASUS UK, visitBerlin Social Media Team, GE Appliances, HETAS, HMV, ID Card Centre, identiBadge, Ryan, Spotify & Visitor Management Ltd.

Also need to say thank you Carolyn for the customised ‘Lanyard Looter Happy 1000!!!’ lanyard! I love it!!

I’ll be sending out proper thank you messages shortly, so please don’t think I’m ignoring you if I haven’t said thanks yet.

Due to a change in my circumstances since I first started out, now I’ve reached my initial £500 that’s been donated to the Alzheimer’s Society, I will be reducing my payments to 20p per lanyard instead of the initial 50p.  I hope people can understand and appreciate my reasoning behind this.

Anyways, back to work and as always, get in touch if you’ve got any lanyards for me!!

I'm Back...

9 months, 1 new job and 136 lanyards since I last posted, think it’s about time I made a comeback…

So after my last post, I stepped back from collecting but even though I haven’t been activity chasing lanyards, I’ve still had people donating them to me.  I’d like to say a big thank you to the following for keeping my collection growing…

Tobias Finu from ProLanyardDirect (http://www.prolanyarddirect.com/)
Neil from Experian (http://www.experian.co.uk/)
Mark from NFU Mutual (https://www.nfumutual.co.uk/)
Lenovo
Stuart from Stagecoach (again)
Laura from Higher Education Academy (https://www.heacademy.ac.uk/)
Andrew P
Dave from Berghaus (http://www.berghaus.com/)
Gill (again)
The staff from HETAS (http://www.hetas.co.uk/)
Ann (again)
Frankie and Benny’s (http://www.frankieandbennys.com/)
Isabelle from Sunquest (http://www.sunquestinfo.com/)
Carolyn (again)

As always, without people donating to my collection, I wouldn’t have a reason to be doing this in the first place.

Onto the Charity side of things.  If you visit my Just Giving Page, you’ll notice the balance currently sits at £437.50.  It doesn’t take a geniuses to work out the numbers don’t add up.  So we’re all on the same page, I’ve donated £427.50 out of my own pocket.  This is made up of 851 lanyards at 50p per lanyard, 1 lanyard at £2 and then £10 that was donated by Smart Car (https://www.facebook.com/smartcarstewkesbury).  I’ll be making the next payment when I hit the 1000 mark (not far to go now!) and then I’ll be looking into my options for the next stage of running my challenge against giving / raising money for charity.

Hopefully you’ll be seeing posts a lot more frequent from now on and as ever, get in touch if you’ve got any lanyards you’d be willing to add to my collector or if you’ve got any ideas on where I can my hands on some!

Weeks 37 and 38

I know it’s slightly overdue but sometimes things happen that are completely out of our control, for example BT unplugging your fibre at the cabinet and then taking their time to plug it back in, not that I’m bitter or anything! Anyway, here’s an update on what’s been going on.

As of Sunday just gone, I’m at 852 lanyards and after making the back payment, I’ve donated a total of £427.50 to the Alzheimer’s Society.  Anyone good at maths will notice that the payment is £1.50 over which is down to @LouisaFirstGive insisting I donated £2 for a USB lanyard that Louise/FirstGive sent me for my collection.  Anyone visiting my JustGiving site will also notice an extra £10 on my total.  In case you missed it, Smart Cars in Tewkesbury made a donation directly to the page (Thanks again Maxine!).

I need to say thanks to the following that sent me lanyards during the past 2 weeks….

Sophie from work, Best Badges Ltd, Business Lunch D4, HTA News, Kellogg’s, Lanyard People, Nottinghamshire County Council, Preston City Council, CoFunds, Swiss Post and Ziggo.

As always, without these people/companies sending me lanyards, this challenge would be a complete no goer, so I really appreciate it!

I’ll hopefully get back to a more regular routine of updating over the coming weeks but thanks for sticking with me people :)

Weeks 34, 35 and 36!

Finally an update! You’ll notice that I haven’t made a donation since hitting the 800 mark.  Unfortunately I’ve had a lot going on personally which means I’m not in a position to make my next donation until later this month.  I promise you that a log is being kept and a back-dated payment will be made!

Since my last update, I’ve received 27 new lanyards for my collection and need to say thank you to the following for their help…

3M UK, The AA, Aviva, BNP Paribas, Chelmsford City Council, Nissan UK, Educate & Celebrate, SSI Schaefer Ltd, UK Power Networks, Palmers College and Carolyn who got me an early Christmas present lol

I appreciate everyone that helps me out but feel I need to say an extra thank you to Caroline at Skipton Building Society who contacted me after they had a re-brand.  It feels extra special when someone contacts me offering help.  Also need to say thanks to Louisa (@LouisaFirstGive) who sent me my first lanyard with a USB Memory Stick built in.  As promised, I will be making an ‘extra’ donation for that one!

Lastly I want to thank the people I work with.  I keep getting random lanyards left on my desk! I’ve only worked there just over a month and think it’s cool that people are supporting me in my challenge, so thanks guys and girls!

Just a week or two away from hitting the 8 month mark in my Guinness World Record attempt and I know I’m still a long way off from achieving my target but I’m happy to report that I’ve just hit 800 lanyards!  A massive thank you to the following that helped me get there this week…

AO.com, Arriva North West, Heaven Sends, ISS UK Comms team, University of Glasgow Library and Joe from Yamaha Music.

Hitting the 800 lanyard mark also means that I’ve now donated a total of £400 to the Alzheimer’s Society!

Next big milestone, 1000 lanyards!  I can’t do this without your help so please if you have any lanyards that you’re willing to donate to my collection, get it touch.  Thank you.

Weeks 30 to 32

I know it’s long overdue but finally got round to sorting an update.  The past 3 weeks have been real exciting, started a new job, Carolyn sorted a new header (thanks), traded with another collector and received some nice new lanyards ;)

As of right now, my collection has grown to 794! This means I’ve donated a total of £397 to the Alzheimer’s Society!  There are lots of people to say thank you to for helping my collection grow over the past 3 weeks, so in no particular order here goes…

Firstly, thank you Carolyn, Tamara, Phil, Zach, Jane, Ian and Ann.  It’s always nice to get a lanyard from someone’s personal collection or from someone that has gone out their way to get one for you.

Then a massive thank you to Digital ID.  This is the second time they’ve donated a bunch of Lanyards to my collection! Next, I received some new additions from FS Steering Wheels, Oxford Tube, Liverpool Guild, Moonpig, OutBank DE and RBS.  I love the fact that different companies are willing to help me out!

Next I received 2 from people at my new job, so a shout out to Phil and Candy.

Lastly, I’ve got to say thanks to Francesco (@Francessco1968).  He’s a Lanyard Collector from Italy who I found through twitter.  His collection is amazing and lucky for me we swapped 40+ lanyards this week which was a great boost to my numbers.  So thanks Francesco and all the best with your collection!

Hopefully I haven’t missed anyone out but if I have, I’m sorry.  As always, feel free to get in touch if you’re able to help my collection grow!  Thanks, LanyardLooter :)

Hello everyone.

Sorry about the delay posting the week 29 update but I’m happy to report that I received 10 new lanyards for my collection.  Donations came in from Analox, Belfast Pride Festival, SAE Institute and Stagecoach in Oxfordshire.

This is the 2nd time I’ve received lanyards (and some new earphones) from SAE Institute and I’ve lost count how many times Stagecoach in Oxfordshire have sent me Lanyards.

My total now stands at 715 and I've donated £357.50 to the Alzheimer's Society.  I couldn’t do this without everyone’s help and I really appreciate everything you all do, thank you!
